He retrieved a new pad then he and I changed it and re-made the bed. He looked at the pad and said it should have been thrown away. I called the front desk and the representative came quickly. Ugh! It was 11:00 pm and I didn't want to change rooms. Looking further, there were many stains all over the mattress pad, most of them dark enough to show through the sheet. It turned out that the mattress pad underneath the sheet was so badly stained that it showed through the sheet. I saw what looked like a big stain on the sheet. I was going to try to overlook that until I turned down the bed. When I got ready for bed, I noticed the bedspread (duvet cover) was dingy and had dirty spots on it. The first bathroom towel I picked up was stained. My initial impression of my 4th floor room was that not as clean as I expect from Hampton, nor was it very modern.
